Walking instructions

From Portsmouth & Southsea Station to Park Building: 3-min walk

After you pass the ticket barrier, you will see a coffee shop Lemon Tree. Pass Lemon Tree and turn left out of the station, you will see taxis in queue underneath the railway bridge. Walk underneath the railway bridge and take the steps down. You will see a Co-Operative shop on the opposite side of the crossing. Take EXTRA care to cross over and watch out traffic from BOTH directions – they DON’T usually stop for pedestrians!

After crossing, you will see the Central Library in front of you. Passing underneath this bridge-like building, you will stand in Guildhall Square between Civic Offices and Guildhall with the usual grumpy-looking Queen Victoria on your left and Charles Dickens on the far-right corner. Walking towards Charles Dickens, you will see a pub Isambard Kingdom Brunel on your left on the other side of the street. Looking to your right, adjacent to the Guildhall, you will see Park Building, a grand Victorian building but unfortunately covered by scaffolding!

From Portsmouth & Southsea Station to Ibis: 5-min walk

Walking along the left side of Guildhall Square, you will see a café. Walking towards the café you will see a pharmacy at the end of a short street. This is Guildhall Walk. At the end of Guildhall Walk is Winston Churchill Ave in front of you. Standing by the crossing, you will see University House on the opposite side of the crossing – Ibis is on the left-side of University House.

From National Express stop (University Library) to Ibis: 7-min walk (in 2 parts)

After getting off, walk along the road in the same direction of where the bus comes in. After about 100 metres, you will need to cross a traffic light for Cambridge Road and St. Michael's Road. After crossing, on your left you will see a pub (The Registry), a café (Le Cafe Parisien), and a language school. Right in front of the language school there is a pedestrian crossing. After crossing, keep walking and you will pass a number of small shops, including a Subway. Walk up to the end of the street, you will see University House. Ibis is a few meters away from University House on your right.
