My name is Tim Riswick, a PhD Candidate at the Department of History of the Radboud University Nijmegen. I am working on my own PhD-project 'Between Rivalry and Support. Differences in the Mortality Chances of Brothers and Sisters in Taiwan and the Netherlands, 1860-1945'. My research interests include life transitions (mortality, fertility, migration, marriage, social status), family history, inequality in life chances. evolutionary theories, big history, and comparative research on Asia (Taiwan) and Western Europe (the Netherlands) in general. In addition, I am also interested in the role of historians in our society and the public debate.
