EATS Board Member 2025 – Present

Daniele Mario Buonomo holds a PhD in Cultural and Social Anthropology from the University of Milano-Bicocca, where he has been serving since 2021 as a Teaching Assistant in the master’s courses Research Methods in Anthropology and Anthropology of China. His doctoral research investigated the transmission of Chinese medicine in Taiwan, focusing on how clinical and academic institutions train foreign students, and examining how this process entails local appropriation and the reframing of medical knowledge and practice. His work highlights the importance of Taiwan as a hub in the transnational medical fields of globalisation and contributes to anthropological debates on medical pluralism and the global circulation of therapeutic knowledge.

His research interests include the cross-cultural transformation and hybridisation of Chinese medicine in global contexts, as well as broader questions of knowledge transmission, medical education, and transnational health practices.

In 2024, he was awarded the Internationalisation Award (1st Prize) by the “Riccardo Massa” Department of Human Sciences for Education at the University of Milano-Bicocca.
