Call for Panel Proposals
Deadline 5 August
Applications are now open for the Professor Chwei-Liang Chiou Memorial Special Panel Grant, to be awarded at the Global Taiwan Conference, hosted by the University of Melbourne on 4–5 November 2026.
Supported by the Taiwan Research Fund at the School of International Studies, Macquarie University, the grant aims to encourage innovative panel proposals on Taiwanese democracy in its broadest sense.
We welcome proposals from scholars working across a wide range of disciplines, including history, political science, sociology, anthropology, cultural studies, media and communication, Indigenous studies, international relations, and other interdisciplinary fields. Comparative and transnational perspectives are especially encouraged.
The grant is intended to support outstanding panel proposals while fostering the next generation of Taiwan scholars. We particularly encourage early-career researchers and PhD candidates to participate, either as panel organisers or presenters.
Panel proposals may be submitted in either English or Chinese.
